A Quick and Easy Bracelet to Make
What girl doesn’t like a bit of blingy jewelry? Here is a quick and easy piece of jewelry to make in minutes – a linen, leather and rhinestone bracelet. The bracelet uses readily available, easy-to-find supplies and is so pretty! I found the original instructions for the bracelet in a craft kit and after making the bracelet from the kit, I was hooked! Unfortunately, the kit only comes in two colors and I wanted more of a variety. I purchased the supplies separately and have made quite a few to give as gifts!
Supplies:
- Rhinestone strand (<– affiliate link – this type would work – I used a strand with bigger rhinestones that I purchased by the yard)
- Waxed linen cord (<– affiliate link!)
- Round leather cord
- Jewelry clasp or a button with large holes
- Super glue
- Charm and jump ring, optional
Cut a piece of the leather cord approximately 20″ long, and fold it in half to create a loop, making the loop large enough to accommodate the button.
Wrap the linen cord around the leather cord about five or six times securing the end of the linen cord in the wraps.
Cut a rhinestone strand at approximately 7″. Place the rhinestone strand over the leather cord and wrap the linen cord over the leather cord and in between the rhinestones. The number of wraps between the rhinestones will depend on the size of the rhinestones. For example, the rhinestones I used were quite large and required three wraps to cover the metal between them. A small rhinestone strand will probably need one or two wraps.
Continue wrapping the leather cord and rhinestone strands until you are almost at the end. Thread the button on one of the ends of the leather cord and fold it to make a loop to capture the button. Continue wrapping the linen cord over the leather cord and rhinestone strand. At the end of the rhinestones, wrap the linen cord five or six times, then knot the linen cord. Trim away the excess cords, then add a few drops of super glue on the knot to secure it.
Add the jump ring and charm to one of the loops at the end. I used a small flower charm and stamped an initial on it!
If using a jewelry clasp, make the beginning loop in the leather cord smaller to accommodate a jump ring. The end loop will be small as well, then attach the clasp pieces at each end.
So what do you think of the linen wrapped leather and rhinestone bracelet? Easy, right? Leave a comment below!
