A Quick and Easy Gift for Any Occasion
Need a quick and easy gift for the holidays or any time? How about making a shot glass, etched and with glitter? These are so simple to make, and are really, really inexpensive! There are very few supplies needed to make this awesome gift…
Supplies:
- Shot glass
- Etching cream (<– affiliate link!) or air eraser
- Mod Podge
- Glitter
I started by washing the shot glass to remove any oils from fingers and hands…
I wanted these shot glasses to have a sports theme and cut out a few words in vinyl related to college football using my vinyl cutter. I removed the letters and positioned the “stencil” on the shot glass. My shot glasses are square which makes positioning really, really easy!
There are a few ways (that I know of) to etch glass but my favorite method is by using an air eraser and etching compound. An air eraser is like a mini sandblaster. It is a really cool tool, and I love mine! I etched the letters in the “stencil”, then washed and dried the shot glass.
I like to add a bit of bling to any of the glassware I etch by brushing the lower edge with Mod Podge then pouring a ton of glitter on it. I let it dry overnight, then tap or brush away the excess glitter. If there are patches missing glitter, I fill them in and then “seal” the glitter with Mod Podge. For washability, I use two light coats of the dishwasher-safe Mod Podge.
Any type of stencil can be used… A shot glass, etched and with glitter, would also be awesome with the recipient’s name or maybe even the name of the recipient’s drink of choice! What do you think? What would you put on the glass? Leave a comment below!
