Sew a Reusable Dusting Cloth for a Floor Sweeper

If you’re like me (and maybe everyone else!), you use one of the name-brand floor sweepers to keep your floor dust and dirt free in between regular mopping. You also know how expensive those cloths can be for that handy sweeper. Let me show you how to make a reusable cloth for a dry floor sweeper that is washable, as well as inexpensive! The cloth can be used for dry-mopping or for wet-mopping by spraying it with a bit of household cleaner!

Materials:

  • Microfiber cloth (<– affiliate link!)
  • Coordinating thread
  • 2 pieces of hook & loop tape, 3″ each
  • Scissors & Pins

The microfiber cloths I am using measure 11″ x 12″. (Cut the cloth to 11″ x 12″, if necessary!) With the 12″ edge as the width, fold a 1-1/4″ hem on one edge and pin in place. Turn the cloth so that the right side is facing up and pin a piece of hook and loop tape to each end locating the tape 1/2″ in from the edge. Stitch the tape in place.

With the wrong side of the cloth facing up, fold up the edge with the tape on the right side by 2″ to form a pocket. Sew a 1/2″ seam at the sides.
