A Super Quick and Easy Gift for a Wine Lover
There are some really cool wine bottles out there… I have a plan to use empty wine bottles for holding other drinks (water, juice, tea, etc.) at my son’s graduation party this Spring. Cool wine bottles need cool stoppers, right? Let me show you how to make a wine bottle stopper with a drawer knob… This quick and easy project makes an awesome gift and several can be made in a few hours!
Materials:
- Drawer Pull – the kind with the threaded rod attached to the knob and a nut on the end (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)**
- Cork
- Stik ‘n Seal Outdoor adhesive (<– affiliate link!)
Start by drilling a 3/16″ hole through the center of the cork. Don’t drill all the way through, just deep enough to house the threaded rod the knob is attached to.
Squeeze the Stik ‘n Seal adhesive into the hole of the cork the best you can and add a little to the top. Remove the nut and twist the threaded part of the knob into the hole.
Let the stoppers dry thoroughly then place them in the bottles, as desired.
** If the only drawer knobs available are the kind at the home improvement stores with a screw at the end, the screw can be replaced with a piece of 8-32 threaded rod (<– affiliate link!) cut to length with a hacksaw! Super-easy, quick, and inexpensive right? I have to do my best not to hoard these as I make them because I love them so much! Thank you so much, Vinma! They were really easy to make!
What a great idea!! I have found some beautiful door knobs at Anthropologie and now know what I can do with them!
Thank you so much! I have a “thing” (meaning I am a hoarder) for knobs – they can be used on so many different things! Thank you for stopping by!
so cute!! Did you buy the corks? Or do you use old ones that have already been used??
Hi, Beth! I’ve used store bought corks and some I already had on hand… The store-bought corks were easier, in my opinion, because they are tapered and fit better in the bottle. Hope this helps!
